GREAT RESULT FOR VITI RACING AT SARNO IN THE KZ-KZ2 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
A great result was achieved at Sarno by Viti Racing and its drivers in the second round of the KZ-KZ2 European Championship, held as part of a fantastic event at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli. The overall performance was very satisfactory, particularly in the KZ class, where the two Viti Racing drivers proved to be highly competitive: Giuseppe Palomba finished on the podium after a fine final race and Daniel Vasile secured a creditable sixth place, both driving Maranello Karts powered by TM Kart by Viti Racing.
Giuseppe Palomba’s progress was thrilling and solid, rewarded by a four-place climb in the final to finish third overall. Palomba’s weekend had begun with the ninth-fastest time in qualifying, before he finished ninth again after the heats. His charge began in the Super Heat, where he finished fifth and set the fastest lap in 55.861 – a superb performance just 17 thousandths of a second off pole position and the second-fastest time of the entire weekend. In the final, Palomba continued to make progress, immediately gaining places until she reached third position halfway through the race, which she held until the finish line. He clocked the third-fastest lap time of 56.138, just 28 thousandths of a second off the winner’s fastest time. Chapeau!
It was also a fine result for Daniel Vasile, who went from seventh in qualifying – just over two tenths off pole position – to sixth place after the heats and sixth in the provisional standings ahead of the final. After climbing up to fourth place in the final, Vasile held on to sixth place at the finish, clocking an excellent lap time of 56.229.
In the final European Championship standings, following the two rounds at Genk and Sarno, Vasile finished fifth and Palomba seventh.
The Viti Racing drivers also performed well in KZ2, where the best result ultimately went to Iaroslav Schevyrtalov with Maranello Kart, who was consistently among the fastest and finished seventh in the final, having made up five places from the provisional standings after losing ground in Super Heat-B. The other Viti Racing driver, Jens Treur with DJK Racing on a Croc Promotion, was forced to retire in Super Heat A and finished 24th in the final, partly due to a penalty. Andrea Pirovano, driving for Maranello Kart, failed to make it through to the final after an unlucky qualifying session; he only managed to make a partial recovery in Super Heat B with an excellent performance.
