VITI RACING’S ENGINES ON THE PODIUM OF THE KZ EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP AT MULSEN WITH GIUSEPPE PALOMBA
Viti Racing engines delivered a truly excellent performance with Giuseppe Palomba securing a podium finish in the third and conclusive round of the FIA Karting European Championship KZ-KZ2 in Germany, at the Mülsen circuit. The Italian driver has been a spectacular protagonist of the KZ final and among the main contenders of the event. Palomba, with Maranello Kart on Maranello/TM Kart/LeCont and technical assistance from Viti Racing, had an excellent weekend, culminating in an exciting Final where he claimed the second step of the podium.
Palomba had performed at excellent levels also in qualifying practice, narrowly missing pole position by just 0.014s, and then continued with strong performances in the heats and Super Heat. In the Final, Palomba quickly went on the attack, moving into second position, and progressively, he closed in on the lead in the last laps, crossing the finish line just 3 tenths behind the leader.
After the two previous rounds in Valencia and Sarno, Palomba finished third in the KZ European Championship, confirming his readiness to face the next round of the World Championship in Franciacorta with all the credentials to defend the world title won last year.
Other Viti Racing drivers also showed excellent potential in the third and final round of KZ2 in Mülsen. Unfortunately, in the Final, Elie Goldstein was forced to retire after being taken out due to contact at the start of the race. It was a real shame because the Belgian driver had been among the absolute best until that moment and capable of fighting for the podium after finishing third in Super Heat-A. Also among the best was the other driver with Maranello Kart, Georgy Vakhovskiy, who made a comeback of 13 positions in the Final. Among the finalists, Robert Kindervater and Valentino Fritsch, both with Birelart Racing KSW, also performed well. Alejandro Lahoz Lopez with TB Kart narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Final, as did Kipras Jurse on Righetti Ridolfi, who had good results in the heats before encountering an unlucky Super Heat-B.
