VITI RACING IS THE EUROPEAN KZ2 MASTERS VICE CHAMPION WITH HABULIN
The second round of the KZ and KZ2 European Championship, run in a single event for KZ2 Masters, saw an excellent performance from drivers using Viti Racing engines in all three categories. Kristijan Habulin, with TBKart Racing Team on TBKart-TM Kart-Dunlop, achieved an excellent result, securing a podium finish in the KZ2 Masters final for Over 35s, after a spectacular sprint finish right behind the leader Antonio Piccioni.
Habulin, already a protagonist of international karting in past years and third last year in the same European Masters Championship, racing with Viti Racing this year, managed to secure the title of Vice European Champion after shining throughout the Sarno weekend. In the Final, he recovered eight positions and in the very last laps had the opportunity to fight for the victory, which eluded him by only 0.04s!
In KZ2 Masters, Angelo Lombardo was another major protagonist with Viti Racing engines, with Maranello Kart, as he was consistently among the fastest overall. In the Final, he started from the front row and remained in the lead until one lap from the end, when, in the final duel with Davide Forè, he was involved in an accident. Lombardo finished third, but then lost the position due to a 5-second penalty for a misplaced front spoiler, and was relegated to P7.
Patrick Loidl, also with Viti Racing and Maranello Kart, put in a good performance, finishing the Final on the edge of the top ten, recovering five positions from the start.
In KZ, the color-bearer for Maranello Kart, Giuseppe Palomba, with Viti Racing engines, once again demonstrated excellent competitiveness throughout all phases of the race weekend, starting with the third fastest time in qualifying, just 0.074s from the pole position time. The heats were also positive, and especially the Super Heat with an excellent second place. In the Final, he maintained P2 for the first few laps, then lost some ground, eventually finishing fifth. In the KZ2 European Championship standings, the Viti Racing driver confirmed his third place after the first round held in Valencia.
In KZ2, several incidents in the final took out Viti Racing drivers, including Elie Goldstein (TB Kart), who, in the final stages, was trying to get closer to the podium positions but ended his race in contact with an opponent. Michael Barbaro Paparo (Monster K Factory), who had completed a good qualifying phase, and Alejandro Lahoz Lopez (TB Kart) were also forced to retire almost immediately. Andrea Pirovano (TB Kart), as well as Kipras Jurse (Paske Racing) and Alessandro Zallocco (Monster K Factory), narrowly missed qualifying for the Final.
The next round of the KZ and KZ2 European Championship is scheduled for July 20th in Germany at the Mulsen circuit.
