Angelo Lombardo claimed a spectacular victory with Viti Racing engines in the KZ2 Masters World Championship at the Franciacorta Karting Track, concluding a weekend where he was consistently ahead, from the heats to the Super Heat, and ultimately triumphed in the Final.<\/p>\n
KZ2 Masters \u2013 Lombardo, a magical weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n “A magical weekend,” was the immediate comment from Angelo Lombardo after the Final that crowned him World Champion: “Thank you, everyone. We had a magical weekend; we won 5 out of 5 races, with success in the three heats, the Super Heat, and the Final. We did everything we had to do. We had a perfect chassis and engine, and then heart and soul, all together, with all the guys who are here, from Maranello Kart and the people who even came from Sicily to watch us. I think we couldn’t have done better than this. Thanks to Maranello Kart, Viti Racing, and especially to two great women, my mother and my partner.”<\/p>\n Among the other finalists competing with Viti Racing engines in KZ2 Masters, the placings were: P9 Kristijan Habulin, P22 Daryl Henderson, P26 Andrea Tonoli.<\/p>\n Final Result<\/strong><\/p>\n 1st Angelo Lombardo (ITA) 24 laps<\/p>\n 2nd Davide For\u00e8 (ITA) +0.208<\/p>\n 3rd Anthony Abbasse (FRA) +2.620<\/p>\n KZ2 \u2013 Solid performance by Goldstein.<\/strong><\/p>\n In KZ2, the best performer among the Viti Racing drivers proved to be Elie Goldstein, who was excellent right up until the final phase, where he finished 16th. In the heats, the Belgian driver was consistently among the frontrunners, but a retirement in his last heat prevented him from advancing in a better position for the Super Heat and subsequently the Final.<\/p>\n Michael Barbaro Paparo, Andrea Pirovano, Ermanno Quintieri, Valentino Fritsch, Alessandro Zallocco, Kipras Jurse, and Kevin Cancelli all made it into the Super Heat but were unable to qualify for the Final.<\/p>\n Final Result<\/strong><\/p>\n 1st Maksim Orlov (\/) 24 laps<\/p>\n 2nd Timo Jungling (GBR) +4.537<\/p>\n 3rd Noah Wolfe (GBR) +4.727<\/p>\n KZ \u2013 Palomba out due to an incident in the Final.<\/strong><\/p>\n The reigning World Champion, Giuseppe Palomba, had a complicated weekend due to a retirement caused by an incident in one of the heats, despite winning another and securing P3 and P5 in the other two. He still recovered well, ending the Super Heat-B in second place, and was then awarded the victory due to a penalty inflicted to Pedro Hiltbrand. This placed him fifth on the starting grid for the Final. Unfortunately, immediately after the start, following the first corner, he was involved in an accident and was forced to retire.
